Collection: Hae Won Sohn

(b. Seoul South Korea) is a process-oriented sculptor and craftswoman based in Queens, New York. She earned her BFA in Ceramics from the College of Design at Kookmin University in Seoul and her MFA from the Department of Ceramics at the Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.

Sohn was awarded the winner for the 2021 Janet & Walter Sondheim Artscape Prize, and selected as a finalist for the 2019 Galerie Emerging Artist Award. Her work has been shown internationally and nationally at venues including Thomas Park Gallery (Seoul, South Korea); Subtitled NYC (Brooklyn, New York); Walters Art Museum (Baltimore, Maryland); Emmanuel Barbault Gallery (New York, New York); Stamp Gallery at the University of Maryland (College Park, Maryland); Korean Cultural Center (Washington DC); MONO Practice (Baltimore, Maryland); Gray Contemporary (Houston, Texas), NARS Foundation (Brooklyn, New York); and more.

Her work has been reviewed and featured in publications such as The Washington Post, BmoreArt, Galerie Magazine, and Maake Magazine. She is currently on the faculty at Greenwich House Pottery in New York City and adjunct professor of ceramics at Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore.
